It's worth noting that I include Colorado VRBO wedding venues because they're much more lenient on events. Airbnbs are perfect for super intimate weddings and elopements, but in almost every case, your guest list cannot exceed the capacity of the house. No matter what, always be sure to check in with the host before booking – not everyone is comfortable with weddings happening on their property. I use the term "Airbnb wedding" throughout the website because it's just how people refer to private home rentals these days!

Even if you are unable to host your wedding at an Airbnb, it's still possible to use one of the many gorgeous private home rentals in Colorado for lodging. A popular budget-friendly wedding format is to get married outside in a National Park or public space available for rent and then host a low-key dinner at a local restaurant.

On VRBO, generally yes. VRBO has a filter for properties that allow events, and the listings on this page are there because they explicitly welcome weddings. Airbnb is more complicated. Airbnb has a global ban on disruptive parties, and most hosts won't approve a wedding even when a listing seems to suggest it would. The Airbnbs included here either operate as boutique inns or have hosts who explicitly opt in to events. Always get written approval from the host before paying — even if the listing says "weddings welcome."
VRBO permits properties to be advertised as event-friendly through a dedicated filter; Airbnb does not. VRBO has a wider selection of explicitly wedding-friendly Colorado properties and a more straightforward booking experience. The Airbnb properties that work for weddings tend to be either professional rental businesses operating across both platforms or hosts handling events as a one-off arrangement. Both can work — VRBO is the easier place to start.

A verbal "yes" doesn't survive a host change or a property sale.
