For Kim and Lane, that meant celebrating their marriage in the city they love most with the people who matter most. Their ceremony took place at the iconic San Francisco City Hall with only their parents present, before they spent the rest of the day sharing pizza, cocktails, and Southern-inspired food with family and friends.
Simple? Yes. Unforgettable? Absolutely.
The Importance of Choosing Venues That Mean Something
The best micro weddings often feel deeply personal, and this one was no exception. Every location chosen meant something to the couple. From saying their vows at San Francisco City Hall to celebrating at House of Shields, a historic bar filled with memories from their relationship, every part of the day reflected the life they'd built together. Even their wedding date, 2/1, symbolised two lives becoming one.
Skipping Tradition and Doing What Feels Right
No pressure to include traditions that didn't feel meaningful. No ticking boxes for the sake of it. K + L left behind things like "something old" and "something blue" and instead focused on creating a day that felt authentic to them. One of the things we love most about micro weddings is that they allow couples to make their own rules, and this celebration is a perfect example.
Pizza at a Wedding? Always a Good Idea
Forget formal wedding dining. After their ceremony, the couple shared pizza with loved ones before heading to dinner with just 18 guests. As owners of Pie Punks, great food has been a huge part of their story from the beginning, so it only made sense to make it part of their wedding day too. It felt relaxed, personal, and completely true to who they are.
No Decor Needed for this Micro Wedding in the City
Some weddings have elaborate decor. Others let the setting do the work. K + L chose spaces that were already full of character, from the grand architecture of City Hall to the cosy atmosphere of House of Shields. Even their guest favours celebrated the city, featuring eucalyptus scents inspired by San Francisco. Every detail felt connected to the place where their relationship grew.
Proof that Simple can Still be Special
One of the most refreshing parts of this wedding is how uncomplicated it was. Planned in just a few months while the bride was pregnant, many of the details came together at the last minute. The bouquet was chosen on the morning of the wedding. The cake was still being delivered during the celebrations. The veil didn't cooperate. And none of it mattered. The result was a day that felt relaxed, joyful, and completely unforced.
