M & B’s NYC Courthouse Micro Wedding Weekend

Micro weddings have completely changed the way couples think about celebrating. Instead of trying to fit every tradition into one day, couples are creating experiences that actually feel like them. More time and more room for the moments that matter most.

Betty and Matt’s NYC wedding weekend is the perfect example. They skipped the traditional wedding formula and created a two-day celebration filled with everything they love: beautiful spaces, incredible food, meaningful moments, and the people closest to them.

From a courthouse ceremony at Manhattan City Hall to a dreamy stay at The Beekman and a pizza party reception in Red Hook, every detail felt completely like them.

Turning a Hotel Stay Into Part of the Wedding Experience

For Betty and Matt, The Beekman wasn’t just where they got ready. It became part of the wedding experience. They’ve always loved boutique hotels, so spending their wedding weekend surrounded by The Beekman’s dramatic atrium, moody interiors, and historic charm felt like the perfect fit.

The couple checked in the night before their ceremony and were surprised with a suite upgrade that made the weekend even more special. The suite felt more like a private apartment than a hotel room, creating the perfect backdrop for getting ready, their first look, and quiet moments with family.

It’s one of the best parts of planning a micro wedding. You have the freedom to create an entire experience, not just a single day.

When Your Favorite People Help Bring Your Vision to Life

One of the sweetest details of Betty and Matt’s wedding was how personal everything felt. Betty’s friend Maggie Canty, who works in events and design, created the florals for the weekend. She designed a stunning calla lily bouquet finished with ribbon that Betty also wore in her hair, along with Matt’s coordinating boutonnière.

From Betty’s crystal-embellished bouclé-tweed mini dress to her vintage-inspired heels, every detail reflected her personal style.

Having the people who know you best help bring your wedding vision to life adds a whole new layer of meaning.

The Most New York Wedding Moment Possible

A City Hall wedding might not be everyone’s idea of romance, but for Betty and Matt, it couldn’t have been more perfect. They wanted to celebrate in the city where their story began, and getting married at the courthouse felt like the ultimate New York experience. With only their mothers as witnesses, the ceremony was simple, emotional, and completely personal.

After saying “I do,” they walked out hand in hand as their families threw flower petals. Followed by a dip, a kiss, and a very cinematic NYC moment. Sometimes the most meaningful weddings happen in the places that already hold a piece of your story.

A Brooklyn Pizza Party Worth Celebrating

The next day, Betty and Matt traded their courthouse looks for a full celebration with 100 of their closest friends and family at Hoek Pizza in Red Hook. They wanted the reception to feel fun, relaxed, and like a true reflection of them. Red Hook’s industrial charm and incredible Manhattan views made the perfect backdrop.

Instead of a traditional seated dinner, they created an evening centered around connection. Guests enjoyed signature cocktails, Italian bites, pizza, salads, cake, an ice cream truck, and a packed dance floor that kept the energy going all night. The goal was simple: create a night where everyone felt comfortable, had fun, and actually got to celebrate together.
