Jessica & Ross' Ouray Micro Wedding

Real Micro Wedding submitted and photographed by Aubrey Beth Photography

Picture this: Jessica & Ross, a couple head over heels in love, knew they wanted their wedding day to be something truly special. They dreamt of a fun day in the mountains that was perfectly intimate and a genuine celebration of their love.

The couple chose to have a destination micro wedding in Ouray, Colorado, with 8 of their closest family members. Now, let me set the scene for you. Ouray is like a slice of heaven nestled amidst the magnificent San Juan mountains. It's often nicknamed the "Switzerland of America," and once you see the towering peaks and sweeping landscapes, you'll understand why. The beauty of this place is beyond imagination.

The couple began their day getting ready at the Airbnb they rented in town and shared a first look before heading off on their big adventure! Jessica looked stunning in a plunge neck gown, and Ross in a neutral suit that was perfectly fit for their outdoor ceremony.

The couple exchanged private vows next to a beautiful waterfall before heading to the ceremony location high up in the mountains with panoramic views that seemed straight out of a fairytale. Aubrey of Aubrey Beth Photography was on hand to document the whole thing and, lucky for them, knows the area like the back of her hand. We’re big fans of hiring locals for your event—they always know all the best spots that you’ll never find in a vendor directory or Google search!

Colorado mountain weather can be a bit unpredictable. Still, if you’re willing to stick it out, you’ll often be rewarded with incredible light and maybe even a rainbow like Jessica and Ross were! As the ceremony unfolded, the sky darkened, and raindrops began to fall from above gently. As the rain shower passed, the sun peeked through the clouds, casting a golden glow over the mountains and revealing a breathtaking rainbow making the moment that much more magical!

The couple was able to include family members who were not present in really special ways—their niece made adorable bracelets, and their family set up a photo of their two dogs back home with a sign reading, “Yay! It’s official, we are the Miller family. We (heart) you.”” Signed with their paw prints!

Having a smaller event allowed time for the couple to enjoy time just the two of them (with Aubrey in tow to document, of course), adventuring around the mountains, exploring waterfalls and turquoise lakes, and really basking in the joy of being a newlywed!

Ouray, Colorado, is an incredible place for a micro wedding or elopement. The mountains offer ample places for a ceremony with an incredible backdrop. Be sure to hire a vendor team like the one below, and you can be sure your day will turn out even more magical than you could ever dream!
