K & B’s Adventureous Washington Micro Wedding in the Mountains
One of the best things about a micro wedding is that there really aren't any rules. It doesn't have to look like a traditional wedding, but it doesn't have to be an elopement either. Kelly and Brian found the perfect middle ground, creating a two-day celebration that gave them the adventure they dreamed of while still bringing together the people they love most.
The weekend started with an overnight backpacking trip to Snow Lake, where they shared a private first look surrounded by the mountains. The next day, they exchanged vows during an intimate lakeside ceremony before celebrating with 23 of their closest family and friends at a cosy A-frame cabin. Every part of the weekend reflected who they are and how they love to spend time together.
If there's one wedding that proves you really can have the best of both worlds, it's this one.
An Overnight Backpacking Trip Before the Wedding
Forget a rehearsal dinner. Most couples spend the night before their wedding relaxing. Kelly and Brian spent theirs hiking seven miles into the Washington backcountry with their wedding outfits packed into garment bags.
They changed behind trees before sharing a private first look overlooking Snow Lake, creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience before the celebrations even began. Their dog came along for the adventure too, spending most of the hike proudly carrying around a stick that even made it into a few photos. It's hard to imagine a more personal way to begin a wedding weekend.
Intimacy of an Elopement without Leaving Anyone Out
For couples who love the idea of an adventure elopement but can't imagine getting married without their favourite people there, this wedding is all the inspiration they need. This couple had the best of both worlds.
After their private mountain experience, Kelly and Brian returned for a lakeside ceremony with just 23 guests. It felt intimate enough to stay personal while still giving them the chance to celebrate with the people who matter most. Proof that you really don't have to choose one or the other.
Airbnb Wedding Reception That Felt like a Dinner Party
Instead of a traditional venue, the couple hosted their reception at a beautiful A-frame Airbnb near Cle Elum, and honestly, it couldn't have suited them better.
Long tables, colourful autumn florals, cosy lanterns and incredible food created the perfect setting for an evening that felt relaxed from start to finish. After dinner, everyone gathered around the fire wrapped in blankets, chatting long into the evening. It was less about formalities and more about simply enjoying time together, which is exactly what micro weddings do best.
Hiring Trusted Vendors Pays Off
One of Kelly and Brian’s biggest advice for future wedding planning couples is to hire vendors you trust. They had complete trust in the creative team they'd carefully chosen… and it was a game change.
That decision allowed every detail to come together naturally, from the florals to the tablescape and everything in between. Walking into the finished ceremony and reception spaces for the first time was one of the couple's favorite moments, proving that sometimes the best thing you can do is step back and let talented people work their magic.
